Summer is for brunch! Ok, all year long is for brunch. Let’s say summer is for patio brunch! And this year we’re on a mission to discover new cool patio brunches in Toronto.
Our new discovery is Bar Wellington at Wellington St (of course) & Portland St. We went there last Sunday with our dog and had a wonderful (and delicious) time.
To start, the patio is gorgeous. You can choose to be by Portland St side and look at people passing by enjoying their Sunday (yes, it’s an interesting activity!) or at Wellington St. side for more privacy. Our decision factor was the sun direction as we were looking for a shadow for our dog. Yes, you can bring your dog, but it has to be attached to the fence by outside. Not a problem.
The menu is a typical brunch one, with a variety of breakfast dishes and some more suitable for lunch time. We opted for a classic: Benedict eggs.
We ordered the Blackstone dish ($12): Benedict eggs with salmon and harsh potatoes. It was delicious and we found the portion perfect for a Sunday morning: substantial but not exaggerated. Another positive factor was the prices, all the plates were affordable, especially if you compare them with other places in that area.
On the menu there was this Portuguesa Homestyle Hash ($14) that grabbed my attention but, even seams amazing, I thought maybe it was too much food for me. It comes with Portuguese sausage, potatoes, 3 eggs, panini and more! I’m sure it’s delicious, so maybe next time!
For drinking we had regular brewed coffee. By the way, it’s refil (huge plus!).
We dind’t have the opportunity to go to see how this place is inside (aka, why I would like to go inside on a sunny summer day to enjoy) but we plan to go back there (maybe at night) to have a more “pub experience”. Of course I’ll tell you everything about that ?.
