Order Local: Guirei Japanese Restaurant

The Week in Toronto

Order Local: It’s a series of posts with my favourite Toronto restaurants to order from during Covid-19 pandemic. Please consider helping small businesses during these hard times.

When it’s time to order food and stay in for a cozy movie night at home, we have our favourites. You know, the ones you always order over and over again when you’re in the mood to get exactly what you want. Guirei Restaurant is one of them.

No matter if it’s summer or winter, if we think about sushi, we think about Guirei. We love their sushi boats and it can’t get more local than this: it’s only two blocks away from home!

I usually cook on Saturday nights (during this pandemic) but last weekend I was kinda lazy and decided it would be better to order something to eat while watching a movie. And what’s better than sushi to eat while watching a movie right?

We ordered the Boat A ($55) as usual. It comes with 18 pieces of sashimi, 12 pieces of sushi and 8 pieces of roll. It’s perfect for two people and we love it because of the sashimi, not so common on combos at that price point.

We ordered from there several times and were never disappointed. I think it would be more than fair to recommend them because even before the pandemic it was one of my favourites and now we want to give as much support as we can during these hard times.

I hope things can get to normal soon, because we love to go there during summer to have sushi with cold beer on their patio facing the waterfront.
