When you don’t wanna cook: Spaghetti with sardines

Toronto Blogger

This post is part of my series What to Cook When You Don’t Wanna Cook, with simple recipes I “invent” on days I’m not inspired to cook.

I’ve already told you I always buy sardines, tuna, oysters… in cans when we go to the supermarket. They’re just so practical and can save me in days I don’t know what to cook.

For this recipe I’m sharing today you only need 1 can of sardines, 1 or 2 tomatoes, 2 garlic gloves and any pasta you have at home.

NEW ARRIVALS IN MY BOUTIQUE

While the pasta cooks (following the package instructions) I dice the tomatoes and mince the garlic. Then I drizzle olive oil in a pan and add tomatoes, garlic, salt and pepper to taste.

Once the tomatoes are very soft I add the sardines. As they’re already cooked, you don’t need to wait more than a minute, just let them warm up with the rest of the ingredients.

I add the cooked pasta to the pan and – ta da – it’s done!

It’s not the most fancy dinner you’ll ever make, but it’s tasty. And you can vary this version by changing the sardines with tuna or even oyster.
