I love brunch. Seriously, I love brunch.
Brunch was the best invention for people like me who love a good plate of food at any time of day, including in the morning.
I never understood why we can not wake up and eat a good plate of food soon. Ok, I always had a lot of problem with breakfast.
I am not one of those who loves a sweet treat and I am not a fan of bread and butter. Okay, I like bread with butter, but I’ve always found it boring to eat it every day.
But there is another problem: I do not like having work in the morning. You know I love to have a more elaborate dinner tonight, but do not ask me to go to the kitchen early so I can even bite!
So let’s just say I love the idea of having Sunday brunch. Since not prepared by me, lol.
And last Sunday we decided to try the Portland Variety brunch, a super charming bistro we had ever seen but never entered.
We arrived early and had to wait to get service at 10am. But it was good because then I realized that it is getting busy. The down side is that you can only have alcohol after 11am, so again I did not try Caesar, a traditional Canadian brunch drink.
We ordered benedictine eggs with fruit, another classic.
In fact, I do not know what else to say, about the food or the dish. Guys, what lovely dishes! Not only the plates but the cups of coffee. All perfect for Instagram! lol
Now speaking of the food, did not disappoint, egg poached with correct cooking, hollandaise sauce tasty and balanced. The fruits were responsible for the more citric contrast.
The cappuccino I had was also delicious and, according to Cris, the espresso was also worth it (something to be considered in a place that is not a cafeteria).
The Portland Variety can not be considered a cheap place, but the price is fair if we take into account not only the food, the presentation and the ambience.
